Hello and welcome to TBF's anime forum. Here you can talk about all of your favorite anime shows from Abenobashi to Zatch Bell. Having said that, there are a few rules that are expected of you to follow.

Mind you, the main section of the anime forum is for series that are not included in the subforums (Naruto, FullMetal Alchemist, and BLEACH are to be discussed in the subforums).

--Please use proper grammar and spelling to the best of your abilities. This is a forum, people, not an IM conversation. For the sanity of everyone around you, please type properly.

--Please don't make duplicate threads or useless threads. By this I mean don't make a thread about an anime when there is already one about that somewhere in the forum. This includes "Who is your favorite character from this show?" threads and "character vs. character threads"

--If you are going to claim a bishi (or bishie, they're the same things) Please do not claim a character someone else has already claimed. If the bishi you want is gone, do not flame the person or spam up the thread with posts like "Gaara is mine!!! She stole him from me!!!" because it's first-come-first-serve when it comes to bishis.

--Don't bump old threads; old being defined as threads with a last reply posted over five months ago. Let them die and they will eventually be locked or deleted. If a thread that covers a topic you wish to discuss is locked and sinking to the bottom of the forum, you are allowed to make a new one. That is the only situation where duplicate threads are allowed.

--Double posting. Don't do it. It's annoying and there's an edit button to fix your posts.

~Now for some questions you might have and answers to them~

Q: What is a bishi and why do I want to claim one?
A: Bishi is short for bishounen or bishoujo which mean "attractive young boy" and "attractive young girl" in Japanese, respectively. You don't have to claim a bishi because it's just for fun.

Q: What exactly is anime?
A: Anime is shortened from the word for animation in Japanese (animeishion). There are many genres of anime which will be explained later.

Q: Okay, so what is manga then?
A: Manga, meaning "whimsical pictures" in Japanese, are Japanese comic books. Most anime start out as manga before being made into an anime.

Q: Subs, Dubs, what are they?
A: Subs, or fan subs, are anime shows that are left in Japanese, only they have English (or another language) subtitles so you can understand what's going on. Dubs are anime shows that are changed over in to a language other than Japanese. Raw anime is used to describe anime still in Japanese, only without subs. Fandubs are also made, and they're the same as normal dubs, only they are made by fans (hence the name), instead of a company like Viz, FUNimation, or 4kids (for all those One Piece and Pokemon dub haters~)

~Here are some definitions you will find useful (copied from the Quizilla Newbie's guide thread xP)~

Baka: (Japanese) Means stupid, idiot, or fool
Bishounen: means "pretty boy" in Japanese
Fanclub: Threads that are created to honor a specific show, character, ect. They usually have specific rules and positions and roleplays.
Fangirl: a female who has crossed the line between healthy fandom and obession
Fanfic: short for "fan fiction"
FanFiction: a fictional story written by fans of the particular thing in question.
Flame: To cuss and chew out a person, basically yelling at them and fighting them.
Glomp: a cross between a hug and a tackle.
Gomen: (Japanese) for "Sorry"
Hentai: (Japanese) Perverted or sexual. Basically anything sexual.
Huggle: a cross between a hug and a snuggle; a very affectionate hug
n00b/noob: an inexperienced person, usually used during online games; a person who acts as if they are skilled in a certain area and is not.
newbie: a person new to a game, concept, or forum. Not to be confused with n00b.

~Some basic genres of anime~

Shounen: Shounen anime shows are fast-pased and action driven. These shows are generally geared towards boys (Shounen means boy in Japanese) but anyone can watch them.
Shoujo: Shoujo anime are more romance-oriented, since they are geared towards girls. However, like shounen, anyone can watch shoujo anime.
Hentai: Hentai is anime porn. DO NOT post links to any hentai pictures or videos here.
Yaoi: Yaoi is guyxguy hentai, basically.
Yuri: GirlxGirl hentai
Shounen-Ai: This means boy love, and is like yaoi, only is doesn't have that Hentai aspect in it.
Shoujo-ai: The girl equivalent of Shounen-ai.
