hum...

what if Ed was in an armor and Al had the automail? Would Ed still be the FullMetal Alchemist or would he be the "Armor" Alchemist? Would he still be shorter than Al? How would he bring his body back?

Well, if Ed was in armor, he wouldn't have been allowed to take the alchemy exam. Remember how Al couldn't take the exam because he would've been found out as little more than a suit of armor and a soul?
