How can I play TiVO recorded files from a PS3 unit?

I have a file that was recorded from a TiVo player and is loaded on my Vista Home Premium computer. I am able to read mp3 and wpa files on my PS3 from my Vista computer. However, when trying to view the TiVo formatted file, PS3 states that the file is corrupted. My PS3 registers the file as MPEG-2. Is there a way that I can view TiVo formatted files through my PS3?
