I think I broke my PS3!!!

Postby dvarn16 on Fri Aug 22, 2008 5:36 am

Okay so today I got an HDMI cable for my PS3 because I just got a new HDTV and heard that using the cable improves the audio/video. So anyways, I started the PS3 with the HDMI cable in, and the PS3 immediately recognized it and asked me if I wanted to make it my default audio/video. I chose yes. So I adjusted my TV to the HDMI video settings and started the PS3 up. Nothing appeared after adjusting all the wires and making sure everything was securely places. Anyways, I kept trying a few more times, and finally, the Playstation screen came up saying "welcome" and everything, but then it didn't go to the PS3 IDs where I can pick my ID. I waited about 15 minutes, and finally, it opened that up, and I picked my ID. Then, it immediately froze. Everything basically stopped. So I decided to go back to the original video settings. I disconnected the HDMI cable and plugged in the regular wires. I then changed the TV's settings as well. I turned on the PS3, but after 30 minutes of waiting, nothing came up. So I assumed that it wasn't working here because of the PS3 settings (it was set to HDMI, like I said before). I decided to then reboot the settings by holding the stand-by button down. It worked (beeped), but then the same thing happened (nothing). I then reconnected the HDMI and still nothing. I am worried that I just broke my PS3! What do I do? Does anyone know whats going on?

In all seriousness, you need to call Sony. I know my PS3 started lagging bad and shutting itself off random when we started to use the internet on it, but that;'s REALLY bad. You could have gotten a faulty PS3 for all you know. It's just best to call Sony and ask for assistance. I don't happen to know the number, but it should be in the booklet it came with or online at their site.
