Im Australian, but Im in Japan. What do i do?

im crap at stuff and i dont know much.

Im in Japan, and yes I want my own PSP. If i buy one, can I change it to engrish?
I want to buy one while im here, just in case it has some cool japanese characters (kanji) on the back which makes it look cool.

And i read a bit about games being international, does that mean I can also change the language for each individual games?

I dont want to play metal gear solid in japanese, i might miss some of the subtlties.

any help for a newbe would be appreciated.
