This is a toughy, I always say that I like whatever music i can respect, I respect lyrics and song-writing ability, so I only like artists who write 90% their own songs and the lyrics are actually about something other than love, loving, falling in love, falling out of love, money, or sex.
But in the end I choose lyrics, I love my melodic death metal, and though many people find it unpleasant to the ear, the lyrics are poetic and a relief from some of the horrible artists out there.
Although melody is also huge in melodic death metal or else they might as well take out the word melodic. |
