There were moments that were funny. I thought this movie fell into the same trap that a lot of the recent genre parodies have: making fun of specific scenes or characters from movies, rather than making fun of the genre. It's definitely a taste thing, but I prefered the moments when they were making fun of a general trend in this type of movie.
An example of mocking the general themes would be the coach being more involved in the lives of his players than his own family. I don't get as much enjoyment out of a scene where a character who is supposed to be Mark Wahlberg from Invincible just shows up as a punchline. |
